TEACHING
and FACILITATION
It’s because of one wonderful teacher and the rigor of the IB program that theatre is the path I continue on. Growing up abroad I found my interests mimicking the widespread and ever-shifting environment surrounding me.
Amidst the constant change, theatre and the arts were a container that held all of it. They became a home to express myself engaging all senses in writing, dancing, drawing, and music. Physical theatre, especially, was a way to produce and perform in conversation with peers and the environment, working collaboratively to tell what was important to us.
Simultaneously it was a way for me to connect with myself and feel confident in my body and brain; the things that stay with you until the end.

Summer School Teacher: Body and Space: Stories in Motion was a two-week workshop series in movement, storytelling, and the composition. Learners ages 13-14 were encouraged and challenged to explore what stories can be told through movement alone. The workshops covered basic movement principles of abstract embodiment physical storytelling before adding the addition and spatial awareness and construction. Learners composed scenes with others that told a story of “Home”. Their final self-led project was a collaborative non-verbal theatre piece about what it means to trust in spaces and people, and what it means when that relationship fractures.
Additional facilitation was provided for extracurricular activities such as morning movement (as pictured).

Students are introduced to the basics of theatre with acting, writing, and vocal techniques for the stage.
